How to enter

What you’ll need:

1.Image data of your entry

Please prepare a single image of your completed works according to the guidelines below.
Also, if possible, please include separate data of a design plan/blueprint showing how your submission is made.


・File size: The image must have a resolution of 72dpi and be no more than 660 pixels wide
・File format: Either JPEG (RGB), PNG, or GIF
・Your submission must be made using paper to be eligible for entry

2. Title of Works

Title can be in English or Japanese.
*If you have sub images and blueprint-like diagrams showing the pieces that will be cut and engraved, please name the diagram data “(your work title)/diagram”.

3.Concept and Explanation

Please prepare about 300-400 words describing the concept behind your design and how you made it. *This explanation is required for entries without a design plan.
(If you wish to share an explanation using a link, please provide the URL here).

*N.B.
●The laser-cutter can cut materials up to 813 x 457mm. The thickness depends on the material.


Application steps

This competition is an open competition using Loftwork.com’s portfolio platform. If you do not already have an account on the site, you can sign up for one free of charge here.


Step 1: Log in and go to the upload page

Log in by clicking on Log In in the top right corner of the page.
Hover over New Portfolio on the menu, and when you click on Create, a window will appear where you can upload images.

 

 

Step 2: Upload Data

Please check the requirements below once you have selected the file that you wish to upload.

● Content type: Tick the box for Portfolio

● Title: Fill in the title of works.

● Description: Insert the concept and explanation here.

● Tags:
Please be sure to enter the following tags for each of the categories. For Category A (Toys) please insert the tag youfab2013a”. For Category B (Greeting Card), please insert the tag “youfab2013b”. And for Category C (Party wear/accessories), please use the tag “youfab2013c”.

Warning: Please be sure to enter the correct tags. If your design is not tagged correctly, it will not be included in the competition.

Check that you have ticked Public on the confirmation page.
Once you have checked everything thoroughly, click on the Upload button at the bottom of the page.

 

Step 3: Confirmation of Entry

Please confirm that your entry appears on the page listing all the submissions.

*If your submission is not shown in the list, please double check that you have tagged your submission correctly.


>>Category A: “Play” Page listing submissions for toys
>>Category B: “Communication” Page listing submissions for greeting cards
>>Category C: “Surprise” Page listing submissions for party wear and accessories made using paper

 

Competition Terms and Conditions

All entrants in the competition must read the following terms and conditions. By entering, entrants accept these terms.

・Please apply the Creative Commons License 2.1 Japan: Attribution NonCommercial NoDerivs to your work. Prize winners shall enter into an agreement with FabCafe regarding the rights of works to be sold at FabCafe and on FabCafe.com.

・The rights of the submitted works shall remain with the entrant (including rights for advertising and PR). Also, third party use of the submitted works shall be permitted within the scope of the Creative Commons License above. Furthermore, FabCafe and Loftwork.com shall be permitted to reproduce, recreate and publicly display the submitted design data for PR purposes without obtaining prior permission from the entrant.

・Prize winners shall enter into an independent agreement with FabCafe regarding the setting of royalties and retail prices for products sold at FabCafe and on FabCafe.com, as well as regarding the sale of the product at outlets other than FabCafe by the entrant.

Prohibitions

・Creator registrations or submissions that are deemed fraudulent are prohibited.
・Submissions must be created and completed independently. When using materials from a third party in the submission (photos, art, fonts, etc.), the entrant must seek permission to use these materials from the rights holder(s). In the event that the entrant uses materials that infringe on third-party copy rights, the submission will be excluded from the competition as soon as the infringement has been confirmed. Furthermore, the organizers and sponsors will not be held liable in the event that third parties claim rights infringements or damages against an entrant or the organizers.
・Any actions that violate Japanese or international law are prohibited. Actions that cause physical or mental harm to a third party, actions that cause defamation to a third party, and actions that infringe on any rights of a third party are also prohibited. Furthermore, any and all actions that disrupt public order are prohibited.
